Fire and Police Recruitment
All hiring for Firefighters and Police Officers is done through the development of an eligibility roster. The current rosters expire as follows:
Police – January 31, 2009
Fire – January 31, 2009
Applications for police officer and firefighter are not made available until the current roster nears its expiration date. If, however, the roster is exhausted prior to its expiration, recruitment will begin before the above dates.

FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS Applicants
must (upon submission of application): 1. Provide copy of your valid driver's license (with no more than 6 points accumulated on driving record at any given time and no current or prior license suspensions). 2. Provide
copy of your High School Graduation Diploma or a Passing General
Education Development (GED) Test Certificate. 3. Provide copy of certificate of successful completion of the "M.C.O.L.E.S. Pre-employment Physical Agility and Reading/Writing Skills Test". 4. Provide copy of M.C.O.L.E.S. certification (as certified or certifiable).
Note the following: - Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and a citizen of the United States. - Applicant must maintain M.C.O.L.E.S. certification for the duration of the established 2 year eligibility roster. - Applicant must conform to employment standards for Michigan Law Enforcement Officers as set by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (M.C.O.L.E.S.) - copy attached - Applicants will not be considered if they have any of the following: a. Prior Arrests b. Prior termination from any law enforcement agency c. History of bankruptcy or failure to show satisfactory financial responsibility BASIC PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS Vision: Correctable to 20/20 Weight: In proportion to height, as determined by a physical examination EXAMINATIONS All applicants must pass written and oral examinations with a minimum score of 70% in each examination. Ranking Final score will be cumulative with 60% weight given to the written examination and 40% to the oral examination. Prior to being hired, candidates must pass a physical examination, physical performance lift examination, psychological examination, drug screen and extensive personal background investigation.

FIRE FIGHTER GENERAL QUALIFICATIONSApplicants
must (upon submission of application): 2. Have no criminal history, convictions or felonies. 3. Have no history of bankruptcy or a failure to show satisfactory financial responsibility. 4. Provide copy of your valid driver's license (with a very good driving record). 5. Provide copy of your High School Graduation Diploma or a Passing General Education Development Test Certificate. 6. Provide copy of your Fire Fighter I & II certifications recognized by the Fire Fighter Training Council of Michigan. 7. Provide copy of your State of Michigan Licensed Paramedic Certificate and Permanent ID#. 8. Provide copy of your current (not expired) passing Written and Physical Agility test scores from the Conference of Western Wayne Fire Fighter Testing Program.
