The responsibilities of the City Administrator includes working directly with Mayor, Council, City Commissions and Department Heads to coordinate the general operation of the City, formulate policy and procedures, respond to citizen concerns, work with the Building Department and the Downtown Development Authority relative to commercial development, interact with various bargaining units to negotiate labor agreements and attend to other labor matters, communicate with State and Federal lawmakers and representatives of the surrounding communities on matters effecting the City of Allen Park and the Downriver area.
Mark A. Kibby is the City Administrator. He started with the City of Allen Park on March 26, 2015 as the Interim Assistant City Administrator. He was appointed to the position of City Administrator with the City on September 22, 2015 and confirmed on October 7, 2015. Mark received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1996 and his Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of Michigan – Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies in 1998.
Mark has over 25 years of experience working previously for the City of Woodhaven, the City of Gibraltar, the City of Melvindale, and serving on the Melvindale City Council. He is a member of the Michigan Municipal Executives (MME), Michigan Public Employer Labor Relations Association (MPELRA), and the American Public Works Association (APWA) – Downriver Branch.
