The City of Allen Park is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Interested and qualified applicants are required to apply at the City of Allen Park, City Clerk’s Office, 15915 Southfield Rd., Allen Park MI 48101. Applications are available Mon.- Fri. 8:30AM to 4:30PM, or online at CityofAllenPark.org under the employment tab.
Empco Inc. has been contracted to facilitate the written examination process. Qualified candidates who pass the written examination will be contacted to continue in the application process.
QUALIFICATIONS
APPLICANTS MUST
a. {Register online at www.empco.net and schedule to take the Entry Level Law Enforcement test at www.empco.net/testing. The testing must be prior to application. Only applicants who have scored 75 or higher on the test will receive further consideration for employment.
b. Possess a valid driver’s license (with no more than 6 points accumulated on driving record at any given time and no current or prior license suspensions).
c. Possess a High School Graduation Diploma or a passing General Education Development (GED) Test Certificate.
d. Possess a current certificate of successful completion of the “M.C.O.L.E.S. Pre-employment Physical Agility and Reading/Writing Skills Test”.
e. Possess a current M.C.O.L.E.S certification.
Note the following:
f. Applicant must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and a citizen of the United States.
g. Applicant must maintain M.C.O.L.E.S. certification for the duration of the established 2-year eligibility roster.
h. Applicant must conform to employment standards for Michigan Law Enforcement Officers as set by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (M.C.O.L.E.S.)
i. Applicants must possess good moral character as determined by a
favorable comprehensive background investigation covering school and
employment records, home environment and personal traits and integrity.
Consideration will be given to all law violations, including traffic and
conservation law convictions, as indicating a lack of good character.
j. Applicants will not be considered if they have any of the following:
i. Prior arrests
ii. Prior termination from any law enforcement agency
iii. History of bankruptcy or failure to show satisfactory financial
responsibility
BASIC PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Vision: Correctable to 20/20.
Physical/Mental: Applicants must be free of any physical or mental defects as determined by a comprehensive physical examination and psychological testing meeting the standards established by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (M.C.O.L.E.S.).
