Our Impound Yard is located on our property at the Allen Park Police Department; 24000 W. Outer Drive, Melvindale, MI 48122. Impounded vehicles may be retrieved upon payment of applicable towing and storage fees. The Allen Park Police Department DOES NOT operate their own tow company. If your vehicle has been impounded and needs to be towed, you will have to contact your own tow service or you can call City Towing at 313-388-9200. Only fully operational vehicles that are registered and insured may be driven off the impound lot by a licensed driver.
Vehicles will be released from the Records Bureau, located at the Allen Park Police Department:
Monday through Friday,between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Due to the processing time required to retrieve vehicles from impound, please arrive no later than 3:30 pm.
Saturday between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Due to the processing time required to retrieve vehicles from impound, please arrive no later than 1:30 pm.
Vehicles are ONLY released to the registered owner or with authorization of the registered owner. If the registered owner is unable to be physically present for the release of the vehicle, authorization from the registered owner is accepted by fax at 313-386-4158. The registered owner must fax a copy of identification and a written statement identifying the vehicle and authorizing release.
Entering the impound lot is allowed for insurance vehicle inspections and/or personal property releases by the registered owner. Personal property releases permit the registered owner to remove any personal belongings from the vehicle. WE DO NOT ALLOW FOR ANYTHING ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE TO BE REMOVED OR REPAIR WORK DONE WHILE INSIDE OUR IMPOUND YARD (I.e. license plate, rims, radio, spare tires, etc..)
If your vehicle remains in our impound yard for 30+ days, it may be deemed abandoned and sold at our next public auction.
